well... as they say on talk back radio "i'm a long time listener, first time caller"(poster in this case!).

i have been a "lurker" for several years, but never had the courage to take the step and join up...until now.. i really want to thank everyone for their insights and comments throughout the forum.

although i have not contibuted to discussions, i have benefitted very much from all of your comments and observations on all topics.

i have been lurking for a while but was encouraged to sign up by a user on the ex jw reddit forum.

i'm a still in jw but i've been mentally out for about two months.

i'm an ms and i'm also gay so i have two lots of 'coming out' to do very soon!.

are the members of a congregation even mildly aware of how many people who belong to their very own congregation were recently baptized?

Generally, if the numbers are decent, they shout from the rooftops. If the numbers are not so good, they take a different stance "we do not keep records of baptisms", or/and "numbers aren't really that important". I have heared both these conversations in the same KH. Coming out of the mouth of the same Elder.

what was it about the jw religion that first gave you serious doubts as to its truthiness?.

for me it occurred in late 1984 when we were studying the brochure the divine name that will endure forever which had been released at the summer convention that year.

If the Watchtower Represents Jehovah, How Come They Don't Share In Public Forums Like St. Paul?

other apostles of the bible were not afraid to engage in religious discussions (peter in the temple court yard), paul before festus, king agrippa and bernice, paul before the emperors of rome and his religious consorts or experts.. .

i don't see the watchtower's scholars of fame engaging with the world's religions or metaphysical discussions, why?

if fundamental christians, catholic and anglican church apologist are not afraid to debate topics with scientist, how come the people who claim to be "jehovah's only" don't share in the "thought of public ideas"?

May be classed as undue adulation, if the people look at them in awe and wonder as the preach the Truth (TM) and rays of light beams outta their bums..

Life for me as a jw (not really) teenager

hey i joined this thread recently and thought this was a good way to introduce myself.

i am 15, still going to school and i live in the uk.

a good chunk of my mum's side of the family are jws.

The sooner you face up to what you want and who you are, the better, People on this board have devoted their whole lives to the organisation, and lost family ,friends, careers, and a whole lot more to boot.........you seem to have your head screwed on, take a breathe.....and jump!
